Job Summary

We are seeking a detail oriented Project Manager with a wide range of print production experience. This includes prepress, small, large and web lithography, large and small format digital, finishing, bindery and fabrication.

Job Responsibilities

  • Planning
    • Create the production specifications, hardware needs and a production plan including researching the best methods of production, materials, and outsource partners
    • Create any packaging needs/requirements
    • Create an accurate job estimate based on the specifications
    • Create job schedule and get schedule approval from participating stakeholders
  • Communication
    • Write clear, complete and well-organized jobs tickets to communicate requirements from prepress to job completion and delivery
    • Set up and conduct kick off meetings as well as production check in meetings on large or complicated jobs
    • Write and send complete pack-out instructions for jobs that require pack-out
    • Write and send Change-Orders as needed
    • Obtain and forward tracking information on jobs as needed
    • Provide general updates and check-ins via email, phone calls, and/or in person
  • Vendor Liaison
    • Create job specifications for vendor quotes
    • Create Purchase Order requests for approved vendor estimates
    • Ensure vendors receive clear and complete information and are set up for on time, successful delivery of their goods and services
  • Quality Management
    • Request and review prototypes, proofs, press checks, bindery checks, finishing checks, fabrication checks, site surveys and installs
    • Constantly monitoring quality, schedule, and cost
  • Cost Management
    • Update estimates as needed based on client revisions to specifications
    • Update job estimates as needed during production based on updates/changes during the production of a job
    • Create purchase order requests for vendor purchases and manage vendor costs updating purchase orders and estimates as needed based on cost changes
    • Reconcile billing on job completion and submit to Sales or Accounting for final billing
  • Become proficient with the current and future internal estimating and production software to create estimates
  • Basic file management; download files; set up proper job folder files on the server and provide updates files as needed
  • Continue to learn/expand print production knowledge; different methods of print production provided by Direct Edge as well as outsourcing any goods or services to the benefit of an assigned project or Direct Edge Media

  • Experience working in an advertising agency print production, design firm or printing company
